Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. We are looking for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants, working-poor families, people who have disabilities or are experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, and homeless veterans.

Position Description: ICLC seeks a highly-organized and motivated Administrative Clerk to provide administrative support to the Tenant Defense Project (TDP) team and its growing eviction defense work. The Administrative Clerk will be the first point of contact for tenants seeking eviction defense representation eviction defense clients and help ensure that referred tenants receive prompt follow-up and assessment. This position will also provide filing support for the Tenant Power Toolkit, an innovative, web-based tool that allows California tenants to prepare and file answers and other initial documents in their eviction cases. Key responsibilities include:
  • Handling initial communications with potential clients across multiple referral sources, including making and answering phone calls to tenants, handling email inquiries, and managing all referral pipelines
  • Electronically file and serve answers and other initial unlawful detainer filings for Tenant Power Toolkit users in Los Angeles County
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of a referral workflow for efficient and timely client screening and assignment to TDP attorneys
  • Managing a high volume of referrals and e-filing submissions to ensure proper handling of time-sensitive cases
  • Entering data in ICLC’s case management system
  • Performing other duties as needed
Required Hiring Criteria: Commitment to the mission of the organization and comfortable working with all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with the general public. Ability to balance multiple tasks and duties with competing priorities. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Access to reliable transportation. Written and oral Spanish language proficiency required for this position.
Compensation: Hourly compensation $24.04. Excellent benefits.
